The last & conditions were communicated to the Dock Company by the Colonial Secretary on the 30th July 1902 and
were in respect of the whole area applied for by the Cock Company in Mr.Gillies' letters of the 14th February 1999 and the 5th September 1990 and by Mr.Dixon, who on the 19th August 1902 applied for a further area of 17,995 square feet. No reply was received with regard to then, Wr.Dixon merely intimating that the matter would be dealt with at an extraordinary General Meet- ing of Shareholders which could not be held until after the Ordinary Half-Yearly meeting on the 18th August, 190k,
The price finally offered by the Colonial Secretary
on the 90th July 1902 was upset premium at the rate of 27+ cents a square foot and Crown rent $350 per acre. The lease to ce for 99 years with option of renewal for one further term of 39 years
on a re-assessed Crown rent.
These terms were considered on the 8th December 1902,
at an Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders and it was decided by a large majority, there being only 10 dissentients,
not to purchase the land in question and not to build a new Dock.
